Nuance 2018: Dame Products Hosts First Ever Conference
Last weekend, sex toy company Dame Products hosted their first ever one-day conference focused on sex, gender, shame, consent, and kink at SECOND floor nyc. The event featured workshops by Math Mag's very own MacKenzie Peck on "Envisioning Your Dream Sex Life" and "Movement and Consent" with Cycles + Sex, as well as keynote presentations by Ericka Hart and Eileen Kelly and town halls led by sex therapist Shelby Sells, writer Arielle Egozi, social worker Sonalee Rashatwar, and many more! The day was filled with incredible discussions covering topics from "The Nuance of Shame in the Digital Age" to "The Nuance of Gender and Intimate Consent." Throughout the event, vendors including Sustain, Cute Fruit Undies, and B-Vibe sold their products — lube, menstrual underwear, and vibrating butt plugs, respectively. Sex positivity and open communication flowed through the space, as we examined nuanced perspectives with prominent members of the sex industry. Like Dame said, "Just because a space is safe, doesn't mean it can't be challenging."
